FASHION LAW

Fashion & Luxury requires a full understanding of the legal framework that controls the primary operational activities of the fashion companies as well as their relationship with clients and other entities. The "Fashion Law" course is created to provide a comprehensive overview of the field of fashion law, a newly emerging area of legal specialization that addresses legal concerns relevant to every sector of the fashion business. The primary industry-based legal challenges will be covered in the course from a technical, theoretical, and practical standpoint. Examples include:

  • Protection of brands through different aspects intellectual property rights,

  • International due diligence and registration of domain names that can be used to protect fashion creations and models;

  • Business requirements through negotiations and specific contracts for the fashion industry;

  • Counterfeiting issues;

  • Role of ethics and Human Rights by Fashion brands

 

The course includes practical situations, and a hands-on teaching approach will be used. Students will be given brands and asked to carry out all legal requirements for each one of those brands. The goal of the "Fashion Law" course is to give students up-to-date knowledge on the key legal issues affecting the fashion business, as well as benchmarks, precedent-setting judgements, and expert advice.
